Bullet wounds...

I just wrote a nice sized post and it is gone, lost to the eternity that is the temporary cache memory of my laptop. So, instead of re-writing it I'll paraphrase everything in bullets, like I am known to do.

-First off, my laptop stinks. It's now losing power at random and inopportune times. I'm wary of writing any assignemnts or doing any work on it because I don't want it to disappear in the blink of an eye. At the first opportunity, I'm going to get a new machine. I'm between a refurbished Dell and a new Apple iBook. I'm still weighing options.

-Secondly, school sucks. I'm so ready to be out of there for more than one reason. The subjects are boring, my classmates are cool (except for a couple whom I would like to murder), and the assignments are becoming blurs. I have two papers due on Wednesday and I really don't care. One is practically written already (an assignment for another class) and the other is on Hamlet; two papers that can and will write themselves as I am just an empty shell of a person.

-Third, the new job is going well. I don't understand much of what I'm editing but that's OK. I'm already through all of the manuals and I'm just waiting on word from the "higher-ups" before I'm proceed with the new formatting. Depending on when they want it all done I might not be around for a while. It's a big project and I'm excited to tackle it, if only for the paycheck. This weekend I worked 8 hours, which is $400 in my pocket.

-Finally, my diet hasn't been working. I weighed myself last night at the movie theater and I haven't lost a single pound. I thought I was doing so well but it turns out I was just fooling myself. It doesn't help that there wasn't a scale in the house that could weigh me. So, I went out and bought a scale that not only measure's weight but also how much fat I have. The results were less than surprising, which isn't good considering the results. So, not I have somewhere to begin and a tangible goal to work toward.

There are other things that are bugging me right now but ... bah!

You've been a great audience. Enjoy Judas Priest...

Very funny, smart-ass. ;)

It was a hardware problem not a software problem, FYI.

If you go with the Dell you'll be asking for more random issues that are the result of cheap quality. If you go with the Apple you might be made fun of, and might have to buy some software for school (like Office), but you'll get more utility out of it.

FYI: I work full-time on a Dell desktop and spend all my free-time on a Mac desktop. I'm biased towards the Mac and hate laptops.

Just my two cents. :-)

Thank you very much for the advice. I have owned a Dell desktop for over two years and have had one problem with it: the DVD-ROM was shit. Dell replaced it for free so I have no beef.

I'm leaning toward a Dell laptop for one of the things you mentioned: software. I don't have the time or the money to hunt down a copy of Office for Mac. Since I already have a copy of Office XP for PC that will be $500+ saved with a Dell lappy.

Again, thanks for the advice.
